Bankers' fat bonuses

US Bank executives got big fat bonuses at the end of 2008, despite the economic melt-down. If that isn't a clear case of madness, I don't know what madness is. Did they even stop for a minute to think about what they got and consider giving it back? Even if they had no choice in the decision - although I sincerely doubt they were helpless in that situation - they could just have decided to re-inject funds where appropriate to help the financial situation. I guess that is their twisted minds would be madness. Why should they care about the bank when they can secure their own future, be it at the expense of taxpayers?
